There is no flat price for a roof. Size and pitch move the number, and so does how many layers come off. What the decking looks like underneath matters, along with the shingle or metal you pick. We look at the roof in person and put a written estimate in your hands for free.
What areas do you work in?
We are based in Langley and cover Whidbey Island end to end. That takes in Clinton, Freeland, Greenbank, Coupeville, Oak Harbor and the south-end communities around Langley. We also work on Camano Island, and on the mainland in Stanwood, Anacortes, Mount Vernon and Burlington.
Can my roof be repaired, or does it need to be replaced?
That depends on what is failing and how old the roof is. A few lifted shingles, a leak at a chimney or a bad pipe boot is usually a roof repair. Curling shingles across the whole roof, bald spots and leaks in several places point to a full replacement. We come out and tell you which one you are looking at.
Should I go with a metal roof or asphalt shingles?
Both work well here. A standing seam metal roof sheds fir needles and moss and stands up to wind off the water. Asphalt shingles cost less up front and come in more colors, including the shake look of Presidential Shake TL. We price both when you are undecided.
How do I pick a shingle color?
Start on our shingle color page. It shows every CertainTeed Landmark, Landmark Pro and Presidential Shake TL color we carry. Hold two or three against your siding and trim, since island light is grey much of the year. You choose the color before we order the material.
Do you handle the building permit?
Where the jurisdiction lets the contractor pull it, we do. Island County covers most of Whidbey and Camano, and re-roofing is not on its exempt-work list. Langley, Coupeville and Oak Harbor handle permits inside their own city limits. We check what your address needs with that office before the job starts.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most single-family re-roofs run a few days on site once tear-off starts. Size, pitch, how many layers come off and what the decking looks like all change that. Rain moves work, so we build the schedule around the forecast and tell you when it shifts. When the job is done, the old roofing leaves with us and the ground gets cleaned up.
Do you do siding and gutters too, or only roofing?
Roofing is the main job, and the rest of the exterior comes with it. We put on siding, install gutters and downspouts, replace windows and exterior doors, and cut out wood rot. Whole exterior projects run under one contractor and one schedule. That keeps the flashing, trim and roof edge working together instead of being done twice.
