Soffit and fascia repair fixes the boards that close in the edge of your roof. When they rot, split or sag, the gutter can pull loose and rain can get into the eaves. We handle fascia board replacement and soffit replacement on homes, shops and barns. We work across Whidbey Island, Camano Island and the Skagit side.
The soffits and the fascia board form the eaves at the roof's edge. They keep water and pests out of the roof and the attic. Rot that has spread past the eave into siding, sills or framing gets handled as wood rot repair. We are based in Langley, and estimates are free: call or text (360) 544-9655.

Island weather is hard on the roof edge. The Olympic Mountains put Whidbey Island in a rain shadow, yet some rain falls on about 120 days a year. The south end still averages 30-plus inches of rain a year. Wind off the water drives that rain into the eaves.
Big firs drop needles into the gutters, and moss grows in what collects. A packed gutter can spill over its back edge and keep the back of the fascia wet. Where the drip edge is missing or failed, water also runs down behind the gutter. That wet wood is where rotted fascia starts.
Soffits can fail from both sides. Blocked soffit vents trap moisture in the attic instead of letting it out. From outside, birds, wasps and rodents can open a weak spot and move in. Peeling paint, dark streaks, a gutter pulling away or a soft board are the signs to look for.
It starts with finding how far the water got. The gutter comes down so we can see the fascia behind it. We probe the boards, open up the soffit and check the rafter tails that hold the fascia. Rot often runs past the stain you can see.
Rotted, split or sagging boards get cut back to sound wood. Soft rafter tails get repaired first, so the new fascia has solid wood to fasten to. New fascia and soffit go up in wood, such as cedar or primed boards. Our job photos show cedar soffit boards meeting at a gable peak under a dark fascia.
Then the edge goes back together. Where the attic needs air moving through it, the new soffit is vented. The gutter is re-hung on sound wood, and the drip edge laps over the new fascia again. The new boards are primed and painted to match, and the old material leaves with us.
A roof replacement is a good time to fix the eaves. The gutters come down and the roof edge is open, so the fascia is easy to reach. A national cost guide says a re-roof is the cheapest time to replace soffit and fascia.
Damaged or rotting fascia boards have to be repaired before new gutters go on. If the old gutters are worn out too, gutter installation fits into the same job. On a cedar barn we re-roofed in green standing-seam metal, new cedar fascia went on with the gutters.
One customer's carport and patio cover needed new roofing, and dry rot had reached part of its wood frame. We replaced that wood and checked the rest of the structure for integrity. At our suggestion, the fascia went back in a better material. Their review says we were "very good with cleanup and hauling out the old materials."

They installed a new metal roof on the house we purchased and were able to start quickly which meant it was nearly done by the time we moved in. We had a great experience working with Jeff who was very helpful with suggestions on some cosmetic changes we made and the entire roof and gables came out nicely. Very pleased with this company and would recommend them to anyone on Whidbey looking for roofing or siding work.
Whidbey Roof and Siding did an outstanding job. Very professional! No playing games came in with the lowest bid. We did run into a few surprises, but Jeff was very clear and transparent about what it would take to correct the issue. Very glad I had someone who could deal with the issues. As one recent visitor said the skylight looks like it was here all along and not an after thought addition. Highly recommend
What a class act. You only have to mention what you want. And it will be done better than expected. We have used them multiple times. I can’t imagine using anyone else for a future projects.
